Owner & Director, Tara I. Walls
Born and raised in Chicago Illinois, I have developed a passion for helping others. My goal is to inspire children to live their best life to the fullest. I’m a lifelong learner and continuously increasing my knowledge through professional development, a member of the National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC), and a local member of the Supporting Professionals Network Association (SPNA). I have currently obtained my Masters’ Degree in Early Childhood Administration and recently obtained Accreditation with the National Association for Family Childcare. I’ve also obtained my Child Development Associate Certificate and I hold my Childcare License in good standing with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for over 23 years as a childcare professional as well as 10 years as a foster parent. I have my Bachelor Degree in Computer Networking which has inspired me to teach children in my program the basics of computers. I currently own and operate my childcare program and transportation business in the South Suburbs of Chicago where I provide services for a mixed aged group of children from birth to 13 years of age.
I’ve obtained Credentials in Early Childhood Education, School Age and Youth Education and Family Childcare. I have the ExceleRate Silver Circle of Quality Certificate, and I am CLASS Certified for Toddlers, which help to monitor the teacher/child interactions. I will continue to educate myself so I can provide the children of our future an opportunity to learn using the STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Math) curriculum in an environment in which children will be provided with excellent quality care and can feel comfortable, relaxed, safe and encouraged while involved in play and other recreational activities daily. Our goals include seeking professional development and continuing to stay abreast of news that will affect the Childcare industry and our families.
Here at Tara’s DayCamp, I believe that children begin to learn before they are born. The sooner we begin to stimulate their brains the better they will do in school and in society. I believe children learn best through play and they should be able to explore their environment while having clear limits that does not hinder their self-esteem, growth, nor their natural curiosity.
We promote a caring and nurturing environment where children will be encouraged to make choices. I believe that children need consistency and a safe, stable environment to thrive. I provide that environment as well as one that works with building a partnership with families.
My goal is to enhance your child's educational needs and help to prepare them for their upcoming academic years.
